I love reading your comments. I cannot begin to explain my disaapointment with this second half of the season. I have let it slide so far, but after last night's episode I could feel my love for the show waning. It is extremely amateur writing to touch upon a topic as disturbing as attempted rape and not give an adequate resolution to it. I know that Smallville has a lot of young viewers since my sisters and her friends watch. Is this the message that they should take away? That if a woman is strong enough to get over such an event that it isn't necessary to express your concern or support for her. I know I am not expressing myself properly here but I am so frustrated right now. I can only hope that Smallville would do something to wow me again, but with the upcoming return of Clark Luthor, there is little hope of this.

Me too, bb. I was letting it slide and was satisfied with the moments we were getting but this episode just hurts me in a million ways and it's just a bit much. Lois' POV in this episode was so poorly dealt with from start to finish. She's hesitant, and rightly so, to adopt this boy - they're not even married yet for goodness sake - and yet she subsumes that and goes along with it because it makes Clark happy. And then all the Connor stuff happens, as you say, we're just to assume she's such a strong woman that she wouldn't care?

I hope that Kent won't offend you or I too much, I really don't. Fingers crossed.

I obviously shouldn't type when annoyed because I make a ton of typos. Sorry for all the mistakes! :) I meant that it wasn't resolved.

At the very least, Connor actually did commit aggravated sexual assault. Lydia found some helpful definitions for us: http://www.twitlonger.com/show/94kfnl and http://www.twitlonger.com/show/94kejj... )

YES TO EVERYTHING except I quite like Tess now. I like that she has her mean as fuck attitude back with Lionel, I think they've been so wonky with her and there's a balance between her being inspired by Clark and then just being mishy mashy. But the entire Luthor plot is just a mess. A stupid mess that I don't even understand why they felt it necessary to go there. This fixation with the Luthors is something I've never really understood. I could write songs about my hatred for Lionel Luthor, the real one, as a character - ugh I agree so hard with you ( ... )

Beautiful picspams. I love that Stiletto scene. :)

I agree with what as been said. It wasn't so much that they went there with Conner and Lois but how that dealt with it afterwards that really bothered me. There should have been an apology from Conner himself. If anything warranted a scene in this episode, it was this. As well as scene with Clark and Lois having conversation about Conner.

I just want Lionel to be gone already. I never liked his character to begin with. So I have absolutely no interest in this AU version of him who doesn't even have history with these actual characters.

"(btw I'm not sure any of this was his to forgive in the first place)"

Exactly.

The sad thing about the show right now is that there isn't a single storyline going on right now that is interesting me. Or making me excited for the rest of the season.

Thank you, bb.

I completely agree. Apparently there was an apology scene but it ended on the cutting room floor because it just didn't matter so much apparently. I don't even know wit these writers.

ME TOO EVERYTHING - Lionel please literally die in a fire.

Amen.

Oh my lord, me too, tbh. I don't care. I thought the VRA storyline was fantastic - really something that should've been the climax of the season and launched Clark as Superman, I really do. Because this Darkseid/Luthor stuff is dull as balls.

Yeah. I really, really, really didn't care for this episode. And the violence against Lois and...yeah, just...no. I cringed most of the way through this one.

I don't like Conner, and Lionel can go anytime now.

The highlights for me: Tess. Everything she said/did (although honestly I really kind of though she'd shove him out the window of LuthorCorp at the end)...the Lois/Tess teamwork...the Tess/Clark scenes were sweet and felt very sibling-like to me, which was nice.

The rest...um. Yeah. :(

BB, I know you spoke about the problem of violence against women on this show, particularly last year. I really despised what this episode did .

Can't stand Connor. I hate Lionel.

Tess was the bright spot. Even though her interactions with Clark can slide into too much of the worshipful for my taste, even though I do like the sibling vibe you pointed out. Her and Lionel, just flawless acting by Cass Freeman and I did wish she'd throw him out the window. But I love what that says about her. In many ways that scene reflects Lex's in descent except she's much 'smarter' in the way she takes revenge on her father and in her self-realization. I love it.

Lois/Tess, so much love.

The rest - Connor should fall off a cliff into a vat of steaming green kryptonite for all I care. I don't even want to see him.
