My brother's theory was always to go sit outside with a book for long stretches when this happened to give the cat a smell to find.

Agreed. Put something she uses a lot to help her find her scent. Like a blanket or bed, a toy she carries. When she smells from afar it will be like a beacon to her.

Additionally my kitties and I will pray for her safe and speedy return.

I don't know what sort of a neighborhood you're in, but when my cat last got out, I left all the doors open all over the house (after locking the other cat in my room) and kept doing circuits of the neighborhood going out and back and out and back. Eventually I came back to find her inside the house.

My heart really is with Yume and you right now. I hope she comes back.

I remember she used to come when her name was called. Does it still work?

We made signs and put them up around the neighborhood. She knows her name, and we went around the neighborhood this morning calling for her, but didn't find her.

Yume is back, and curled up on my bed with her favorite blanket.

Oh no. ;_; Silly cat, come home. ._. Though you know, she'll probably turn up at ungodly in the morning meowing to be let in.

Jessie found her in the bushes beside our building, silly cat. We speculate that she heard our voices when we were out looking for her, and headed back in the general direction from there. Maybe the strays kept her from getting closer to the front door.
