good catch. i wouldn't have noticed the bias in that quote. guess i was brain-washed at an early age to be very ashamed of my naturally-rounded belly.

i tell you, though, the fat does migrate. as i went through menopause, my shape shifted for real.

I have blogs and HAES to thank for spotting that one. Although it helps that it's a pretty poorly written article.

Maybe when I hit menopause, the fat will migrate away from my belly. It's been there my entire life, even when I was a scrawny Jenny mouse playing basketball. Sigh. I really do try with all my effort to love my body and focus on my health, but I feel like a spider, sometimes.

I agree with the above; my weight has suddenly all shifted to my stomach. For a while I thought there was something wrong with me, but apparently it's the onset of menopause. It was something of a surprise!

The idea that a rounded belly isn't a "female appearance" is a silly modern idea, though. Look at the ancient goddess figurines from the Paleolithic era. Big boobs, big butt, AND big bellies. I'm a goddess!
