IOW, did N specifically pick the people who were going to the party, or is this "N's guy friends"?
If it's the former, you definitely want to bring this up with him. Because dealing with it is much better than having it sitting in the back of your head, nagging at you.
If it's the latter, you might want to bring it up with him, to mention that you would have appreciated finding out from him that V was going, rather than finding out from someone else.
It might be a situation totally outside his control, and he didn't even know she'd be there until he got there. It might be an innocent mistake. Or it might be that he screwed up big time, and needs to grovel. Talk it over with him, and find out.
Oh, and if you're pretty sure it's "he screwed up, big time", bring it up at the beginning of the evening. Deal with it, and get it out of the way. You've only got a week before he goes, don't let something like this screw up an entire evening for you.
