It's like in DS9 with Julian's enhancements. "Oh we're going to let you keep your commission and you'll be happy about it whether you like it or not." Of course, they never brought his feelings on the matter up ever again except in a misguided attempt to bring humor.

Right? And y'know, I really wanted them to go into his enhancements, how he felt about it, etc. Its another reason DS9 is kinda my least fave, because their character development is all over the damn place, in my favorite characters.

But on the other hand, it's resulted in a treasure trove of fic about his enhancements. And just, Julian whumping in general. Which is always good.
