Sorry about that. Insurance companies are quick to total out vehicles these days. Maybe it's a trade off. All those crumple zones that are supposed to save your life do their jobs. But repairing them once they've done those jobs...Sigh...
Good luck with the new vehicle shopping. Hopefully she can find something she'll like.
it just really sucks because the truck was a damned good vehicle. and all of the damage was mostly to the actual panels and not the body itself. just... all of the stuff they'd have to fix...*sighs*
we're waiting for the money to come in before we do anything. hopefully we'll find something.
I've lost two cars to being totaled out. It's not fun, and you're right - you feel guilty about doing it. Here's hoping the car was paid off so you can use the entire check to get a new one.
About the other driver's insurance or lack there of - she's a minor right? Her parents policy should cover it, and if it doesn't there's always a civil suit. I don't know if I could do that though - was she driving with her driving instructor? If so, the school should be liable. Just saying.
it feels wrong to total the truck out because it pretty much saved our lives. i'm thinking more and more that it could have been so much worse than it was. and it wasn't paid off. still about $5000 left on the loan. so part of the check has to go there.
the other driver was not a minor. and she wasn't with an instructor. she was an older woman and her husband was teaching her to drive. what little we know suggests that their son is possibly the policy holder. he loaned the car to his parents. they're not on the policy. our agent told us that the other company wasn't going to cover damages because the accident occurred without the insured in the vehicle or behind the wheel or any of that shit.

What about the other damn driver? Isn't she responsible for anything? It would make sense to me since she is the one who caused it.

the other insurance company isn't paying for squat because the driver wasn't on the insurance! so the driver isn't responsible for anything at all.
