so i went to the theater and saw the movie today. the 1pm showing at the IMAX.

i am still trying to gather my wits.

a part of my heart is so heavy that this is the end of an era. there will be no more new books. there will be no more new movies. there will be the memories of what has gone and what has been. there will still be fan fiction. and that ( Read more... )

I'm getting teary just from reading your review. *sniffles* I'm going to need a whole box of tissues with me because I know I'll sob through the whole thing. The spawn will be so embarrassed. lol

i managed to embarrass my own spawn without him even being there. old pictures have him looking rather like Harry in his younger days and i showed a complete stranger.

yes. i would recommend a box of tissues. it was frightfully good. and even thinking about it now, some seven hours after the film finished, leaves me a little teary eyed. it was so so so so good.

Well there's still Pottermore but then even that won't be the same or if she ever decides to write more books (which I'm hoping she won't because a NextGen story would be potentially awful).

yes. there is Pottermore, though you're right and it won't be the same. and i'm not sure she plans on going any deeper into the Potterverse than she has. but i suspect you're right and that any NextGen she might write won't add anything good to what has been a pretty amazing literary experience for me.

Hubby and I just left the theater less than two hours ago. You're right. A box of tissue should come with your ticket. I bawled and bawled. The images on the screen were so right that it gave me a sense of deja vu.

I could write a whole page full of "it was so awesome" and "I think they hit just the right note with" -- but this is supposed to be a comment and not a full blown post, right?

I remember thinking when I read that final scene at the train station that it read more like a movie scene than a book scene. And it did play better on screen than on paper, I think. The casting for the next-gen kids was perfect. They looked just like you'd imagine they would. Good stuff.

Two thumbs and a dragon's tail up!

i liked the movie(s) far more than the book. i felt the book fell flat in so many places and in so many ways.

but this... i likely could have gone on and on about it all. more than i did. but that would have given things away. things i didn't want to give away for those who hadn't seen it yet. there was just so much i enjoyed about it.
