Fic: Echoes In Time

Oct 01, 2009 17:08

Title: Echoes in Time
Author: ladychi
Characters: Doctor/Rose
Rating: All Ages
Summary: From the prompt "Journey's End in reverse, Rose becomes a Time Lady"... I went a slightly different direction, edgeoftheworld, and examined the effects of near-immortality on their relationship over the course of their lives. I hope you enjoy it!

You make me so frustrated! I could regenerate you. I swear, I could. Right this very instant. )

*sniffles* This is lovely. A very interesting take on the prompt, seeing how it affected them. I needed a moment there, but I liked it!

Thanks very much. I liked it, too. Which is odd, for me.

Thank you so much. I'm glad you liked it -- the mood transitions were something I thought about, so I'm glad they went over well.

That was exactly perfect. :) I especially liked that they danced in the cell, and could barely remember having done it before....

Thank you! I'm glad you liked it. I even liked it -- which, as you know, is very, very rare.

Grown-ups. Couldn't see their way out of a paperbag, sometimes.

I love this line. Love the whole fic; the thoughtful quality of it and the clarity of the descriptions, and coming back to Jack at the end. It makes a nice circle of it. Though I can't help wondering if Jack was tempted to try and fly the TARDIS.

The last line felt a little hollow for me--it's the same kind of feeling I get when I've written something where I'm not quite happy with the ending, myself. I keep trying to put my finger on it, but I can't quite come up with anything coherent, so it's probably just me (heck, could be the migraine talking, too).

I imagine Jack was, but he'll see Rose and the Doctor quite frequently over the course of his life, and I doubt that he could hide the fact that he had a TARDIS very well.

The last line -- yeah, I'm still not completely happy with it. I'm waiting for brilliance to strike me so I can edit it out. But since I've been shouted at for filing things away and never publishing them by certain parties who shall not be named, I went ahead and posted this as-is.

The upside is that I do like the rest of it, which is so rare I can't even tell you.

Hey, the last line was my favorite part, don't change it!
