That was gorgeous, and heart-rending all at once. I love how you show Rose picking up and moving on, and what urged her to pick up a gun. I also like the ending. Powerful work, and one of the best I think I've seen from you so far.

I started to copy and paste the bits I like, with my reasons why, but frankly I'd have ended up putting the whole fic in my reply, so I gave up.

Suffice to say that this is magnificent - it's beautiful and it's sad and it's so very Rose - and I love it on so many levels

I'm glad so many people found that it rang true for their version of Rose. I worry about her characterization all the time.

Thank you so very, very much for a wonderful review!

As far as I'm concerned, you have nothing to worry about - you always seem to nail them both.

This was so heartbreaking in the middle, and then there was the spark of hope at the end. Love it.

I just want to say that I really really love the way that you write Rose. She's so real and so very human and so much herself even as we watch her change. And she's really so strong.

This piece is a perfect example of this- and I love the way you've divided it up, it's very effective.

Thanks!

I'm really pleased that so many people found that this story rang truly Rose for them.

Thanks for commenting on the structure, too. I thought I took a risk with that. Thank you so much!

Beautiful and sad. Rose growing up more and more with every day is something that almost breaks my heart, because she indeed became cold and hard in some way after she lost the Doctor. And so did he.
I like that in the end she somehow finds closure, a "home".
Very well written, a great character study.

I think they both did, also. There was this element, of the two of them taking refuge in each other, and just being so pleased by each other that they ignored the outside world. Without that shield, they both become more weathered. Definitely.

Thank you so much for your comment!
