Thanks to everyone who voted in the latest poll! I've got a lot done and hopefully should have something publishable in the next few days.

chaosmonkey, your fic prompt is awesome. I have determined it will be 6-10 chapters in length and will include: a silver dollar, an inappropriate coin flip, a tornado, a flying monkey, Frank L. Baum, a farmer named ( Read more... )

I'm quite curious to hear your thinky thoughts about smut and sex, as I often have thinky thoughts of that nature myself. But I have an old married person's perspective, and I'd love to hear yours.

Hee! I'm sure they won't be as awesome as yours. It's sort of gone off in the direction of talking about being a (relatively) young, unmarried author and the stigma against talking about things that you're not "supposed" to know about.

*standing ovation* Yeah. What she said. Reading and writing smut can absolutely improve your sex life in all the ways that papilio_luna said.

I think to a certain degree you can write somewhat beyond what you know, but you have to tread very carefully. Obviously none of us have had telepathic sex, but several of us have written it fairly well. I've never had sex with two men at the same time, but I extrapolate as well as I can based on my own experiences. Also I think through positions and such pretty thoroughly - just ask my poor beta. I'm sure sometimes, some realism gets sacrificed, but oh well. If I could ever get hold of two David Tennants to do research with, my threeway smut writing would undoubtedly improve. (Or stop altogether, as I would never get out of bed.)

*punches air with fist*

Yeah, I haven't done *everything* I've written about (though, like you, I wouldn't mind it should I have the opportunity!), but in a general way if are writing sex scenes, having sex of some kind definitely makes it a lot easier. And if you want to write rather energetic awesome sexins between two people very much in love, well, *cough* it's been known to happen around the luna household. Being married and having regular sexins definitely helps me as an author. And I wouldn't want it any other way *g*
