I'm sitting here watching Beauty and the Beast (one of my favorite Disney films, btw), and all I can think of is gender politics and now I want to write an essay and WHY CAN'T I JUST WATCH A MOVIE FOR ENJOYMENT ANYMORE?

Also, that is my normal movie-watching experience, even when I enjoy the heck out of said movie.

Also ALSO, I got a response from the admirals regarding our event 3 collab. So long as we have the minimum required pieces of art, we don't have to worry about the word limit.

I know exactly what you mean. I watched Mickey Mouse Monopoly (documentary dissecting the gender/racial/social messages in disney) for one of my cultural anthro classes in college and have not been able to watch one of their films since. Especially Beauty & the Beast -- i like, cringe every time one of my friends references it because i just keep thinking of all the young girls blithely watching and soaking up this message that YOU CAN FIX HIM and DOMESTIC ABUSE IS OK.
