Gnaaaah, I hold to my initial assessment that your Mirror!Bones is bloody terrifying. At least Kirk is sane, you know? He's ruthless and dangerous and would kill you as soon as look at you, but I have this mental image of McCoy humming happily to himself while the Orion screams and chokes and begs to die above his head and he just keeps delicately peeling away a layer of muscle off the bone. Because this is all terribly fascinating, you know, it's scientifically interesting and cadavers don't tell half the stories that living bodies do, when you see every fiber of them interact with lungs straining and neurons firing and heart beating frantically in the open air. SCARY. SCARY SCARY BONES.

Yes! Thank you, that is just what I was going for. XD The concept of vivisection is just so appealing to Bones; the opportunity to study life in its most visceral form.

I think that maybe he has a secret obsession with finding a "fountain of youth", and has the idea that if he just studies enough different types of life he'll figure it out. Also, he's freakin' nuts.

Don't know that I'd necessarily agree with you about Kirk being sane, though. o.o It takes someone pretty well unbalanced to force a lifelong bond with someone as dangerous as Spock. Especially with as little data as he actually had. Ah, well, he'll get his in the end.

Maybe Kirk's version of insanity is more familiar, somehow? I mean, he's sort of blase about genocide and enjoys sticking crewmembers into the Booth more than he probably should, but I sort of consider that par for the course in the Mirrorverse. As to the Spock thing--the man taunts danger because he finds it more exciting than any woman he's ever known and he has control issues and doesn't think it through before doing something completely insane... but I kinda view those as normal Kirk characteristics just taken to the extreme.

And will we get to watch Kirk get his? In Spock's quarters? Please please pretty please?

Fair point. Regular!Kirk is kind of insane, he's just not evil with it. XD

Ohhhhhhhh, you'll get to watch. Maybe not in Spock's quarters . . . the scene I have started is during shore leave on some random planet . . . but it will happen.

Believe it or not, the next bit is a love story! :D A sick, twisted, depraved one, but a love story nonetheless.

“I’ll tell you a secret. You want to know someone? Really know someone?” His eyes scan the body laid out before him, and he lowers his voice to a conspiratorial whisper as he brings his gaze up to meet the Orion’s. “You’ve gotta get inside ‘em.”

You know, as gruesome as the rest of the fic was? That line right there was the most horrifying thing of all. You struck the exact right cord of Bones/serial murderer.

Bones/serial murderer

For a second my mind read that as a really bizarre pairing. XD But yay, that line was one of my favorites! It demonstrates so nicely that Bones is OUT OF HIS FREAKIN' MIND.

Glad you liked it! XD
