I saw a post you made in the Wellington comm, and I just thought I'd say hi. I'm an American, but living in Wellington (at least until my visa expires). How I got here is a bizarre story, but it's really a great place. I think you'll love it. =)

Thanks for your posts. I'm sure I will love living in Wellington; I can't wait to get there. Any advice on how to survive my first few days there? Best place to get groceries, that kind of thing?

The most common grocery in the city is New World. There's also Woolworth's and another place called Pak n Save. I've heard Pak n Save's the cheapest, but I never go there since it's out of your way if you're right in the city, so I can't confirm or deny it.
One thing is, the grocery stores are open late, but most of the shops close really early around here--about 6pm. I have to say that's one of my very few gripes with Wellington.

What are you going to be studying?

I'm going into a graduate program in film at Vic. I really can't wait! And thanks for the grocery store info. I have to feed myself (I don't have a meal plan at the school, so I have to do it myself). Gotta find myself a toaster oven, since I don't get an oven either :-)

6pm is pretty early. I'm suprised, especially with it being the capital city and all that.
