Today I have witnessed a successful peaceful revolution.

Maybe it doesn't have the same geostrategic implications, but to me this feels like the fall of the Soviet Union. Excellent piece. I couldn't agree more. I especially liked the bit about how wrong everyone was about the apathy of the people. I think sometimes it just takes a while for it to finally boil over, or organize well enough, or whatever. It's not that people don't care, it's more that it just sometimes takes a bit to finally reveal itself (and this is what I expect apathy to do. Over here apathy often seems to equal not caring at all and becoming jaded and cynical and refusing to get involved-I would think it'd inspire just the opposite. If I'm angry, I DO something about it, even if it's only a temporary solution ( ... )
