Tornadic cell flared up due NW of my apartment complex, headed straight for my neighborhood. I'm in far SE OKC at my mom's now (not far from where another tornado hit on Monday), but Oz is home alone and my sister is also in NW OKC now... keep your fingers crossed ( Read more... )

What is it about OK and TX where the hail is as big as a baseball or grapefruit :O?

I've never seen hail so big in my 20+ years here as what my sister posted on her Facebook tonight. Even the TV weathermen, who you'd think would be used to it more than anyone, were basically crapping themselves over it. When it comes to everything but hurricanes, Oklahoma just appears to be shitty-weather-central. We even get regular earthquakes now too, though they're nothing like what you have out there.

Fortunately for me I went out to my Mom's on the far SE side of the city, which didn't get hit near as bad with the hail. If I'd stayed home I'd probably have a totaled car.
