Oh damn. Already? Ugh. Kansas had the most tornadoes in 2008. We had a thunderstorm yesterday, but no tornado warnings ... yet. It's going to be a long season.
I didn't even realize it was supposed to rain today. But then I'm sitting in my car, chilling before I go to class, and suddenly the damn sirens are going off! And it looks like we've got several more hours of this crap, more potential tornadoes. :-S
I guess tornadoes don't really give a damn when the calendar says spring is supposed to start!
We're good. :) The town where all those people died is about 100 miles south of me. We had a few homes damaged/destroyed and a couple of injuries here in OKC, but fortunately nothing in my neighborhood.
Thanks. Really, the first time the sirens went off noone was really scared - it's such a common thing here, and the sirens go off any time a tornado's been spotted in the county, not necessarily in your specific area. Hell, SOP for a lot of Okies when they hear a siren is to go outside and look for the funnel! ;) By the second and third times they went off, though? Yeah, nerves were getting a little frazzled. :P
Fortunately most of the storms wound up passing a few miles north of me, including one that destroyed several homes.
As safe as I can, heh. Unfortunately with tornadoes it's a gamble whichever way you go, since the damn things are so unpredictable... :P
The first time the sirens went off we were all like "meh, whatever," since it's such a frequent thing here, but by the second and third go around... yeah, nerves were getting pretty frazzled. A girl had to leave my Psych class early because she got word one of the tornadoes had hit her neighborhood.
I hope you are okay D: The news said one tornado from last night was near Oklahoma City, not in it, but I still thought of you when I first heard this morning.
One of the twisters that hit OKC yesterday - the one that destroyed several big homes on the north side - passed within about three miles of me, but nothing worse, thankfully. We didn't have any fatalities, but a town about 100 miles south did.
