Oh, just to make it clear: I like seeing that quote when it's in the same tongue-in-cheek way it was in the movie.
Yeah, it's sad. What's more sad is that people nowadays still believe in that version of the history. Like I've read somewhere, the winners write the History, and the winners in France were the "revolutionaries". :((

Oh, the manga are from a cartoon named the rose of versailles! Here in Italy was known as Lady Oscar! You can read about it on wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Rose_of_Versailles
