I haven't seen the episode yet, but I have 2 comments to what you've posted. First, When you say that Rory is content with how things have turned out, is it possible they are trying to draw a parallel between L/R? I happen to believe that Lorelei married Chris because after her idea of a life didn't work out (i.e. marriage to Luke), she was giving in to what she was beginning to think was the inevitable: her parents were right and she should be with Chris. I'm not sure exactly what conversation or event with her parents prompted this opinion, but it's an impression I have. Rory is sort of behaving the same way. She knows that her mom marrying Chris was probably not a great idea (she said herself she would have talked Lorelei out of it), but she's convinced herself now that it's what was "supposed to be", so she's happy. I think they will both have a wake up call when it falls apart ( ... )

Second, completely agree about this being a small season. We've seen nothing but C/L storyline. It's kind of sad that DR has sacrificed everyone else. I hope the last half of the season picks up for the others.

Well, I would say L/L/C, April's had a larger, more coherent storyline than Rory, since it's attached to Luke's. But the lack of Rory this season is just sad. There was a lot to do with her in her senior year @ Yale.

I'm not sure about the Lorelai thing. I think it's partially what you've said. And partially because I think the thing Lorelai fears most is being alone. So when things disolved with Luke, and Chris shows up saying he loves her & always has, she can cling to that, thinking it will make her happy. It will, as long as she keeps running, its' when she stops, whenever that happens, shes' going to have problems.

This is probably the best Zack episode ever!
His speech in the town square bought him a couple of brownie points with me too. I still don't like him that much but I give it to him that he's trying and supporting Lane in every aspect.

I can't decide if they've softened Luke up too much.
I find Luke's behaviour weird for a while. It's not so much about getting soft but him being bubbly and touchy-feely.

I think it's weird and kinda mean to make a small child delay Christmas because he big sister chose to celebrate the holiday with her boyfriend and not her family. Thanks you! From the second the spoiler came out I thought that it was quite selfish of Lorelai to ignore Gigi just because she wants to celebrate Xmas with Rory. A 4-year-old cannot understand this ( ... )

Yeah, its' just weird, and not Lukeish, to me. He's supposed to be a bit cromagnonish.

Hee, but really, it is. Rory would understand, Gigi can't at this point, she's too young. Plus, Rory did celebrate, just not with Lorelai.

I think you're totally right that Lorelai has the empty nest syndrome (even with Chris & Gigi there) and can't let go of Rory. That would actually be an interesting story line after Rory graduates - Lorelai coming to terms that Rory really has grown up and is not at her beck and call.I think it could. She's been kinda clingy in general since the rift, but it really was highlighted in this episode. I have to wonder what will happen on that front once the marriage disolves ( ... )

Being lonely, she will stay with Rory at Yale and develop an intense crush on the TA. ;)

I don't really care about the letter, since it's from Lorelai, not Rory.
It depends how it goes - it can be ok or totally over the top. In that case I will be annoyed.

Sebastian Bach's hair looks really great!
LOL yeah, I've always thought he has amazing hair.

I can't decide if they've softened Luke up too much. I find him much more interesting before he becomes a love interest for Lorelai, I think he has more humor, bite and such. I realize that April would soften him, and that's good. But he seems kinda drippy
I totally agree! Sadly, I liked pre-season-5 Luke much more than Luke now. He seems so wimpy right now. Where's the gruffness? I remember ASP saying that when they got L/L together, they were going to keep the characters true to themselves, but I think Luke has definitely changed. And it's not even like we're just seeing his sweet side more often- it's like he's completely changed.

Heh, it looked very circa Skid Row, when he had really amazing hair. It's usually been kinda bushy on the show.

It's nice to see someone that loves Luke much more than myself agree with me. Because I'm not a dyed in the wool Luke lover, but I used to really enjoy his character much more than I do now. I always thought they were supposed to have Lorelai love him, for being Luke, prickly on the outside, soft on the inside. All I get anymore is the soft.
