*giggles!* I love that little girl story.

And I have always wanted a truck, too. We had a red one that we traded in when I was about five or six, and I used to love that one. I'd sit in the front and read through the manual that I called "The Truck Book" and I said it was the best car manual ever, better than the ones for our other cars. I don't know if I was delusional, or if there really was something special about it, but I bet I had a reason. I miss our truck, we haven't had one since. We keep getting smaller, a mini van then the Subaru Outback wagon we have now.

Hey now! It's just as bad to stereotype figure skating as it is to look strangely at you with a hockey stick.

I dare any hockey boy to do what Surya Bonaly does at 3:30 of this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rC7yJ4jez68

That was a moment that stuck with me my whole childhood.

Caitlin asked me if I could do a sit-spin about a week ago. I told her I'd fall right on my butt if I tried and she cracked up. If she hadn't been nine, I would have explained to her that the only sit-spin in my life was one of these when I was three.

Also? The idea of flipping over backwards like that on solid ground scares me! I can't imagine on ice. That's damn impressive.

Wasn't there some nonsense about her not being allowed to backflip at some competitions, even though the boys could? I remember that from my childhood, and I remember the confusion. And while I'm on the subject, o master of figure skating knowledge, who is the boy I am thinking of that was famous for back flips?

You're thinking of Scott Hamilton, who is actually the one commenting on Bonaly's performance.

And no, they were just as illegal in the men's competitions when Scotty did them. The only legal back flip in amateur competition was the very first one performed and the ISU banned it right afterward.
