They both came out about the same time. I think Roar is more radio friendly of the two. But I do like them both but I'm leaning slightly towards Roar at the moment haha.
Feminism does change how you read things. Especially historical romances, I've found. I still enjoy them, but I can't help but notice the rampant sexism in the genre.
I love historical romance myself but I'm just now starting to analyze the genre. But some of the books I've read previously did seem to have sexist undertones.
I find the same with being a feminist - it's really started to affect the way I read/watch things. I can be very critical and it sometimes affects my enjoyment, but hey, I'd rather it be that way than not be a feminist at all.

I haven't actually listened to "Applause" or "Roar" yet. I'll have to take a listen soon.

I don't think I ever read The Secret Garden. I do remember the movie made by Warner Brothers. Wow, that sure takes me back!
