Zombie knitting...

(For someone who actually dislikes zombies, I seem to be talking about them a lot. Also, the best zombie movie I have seen lately is ParaNorman. It's adorable.)

kseenaa pimped out this journal in her latest post, telling people to watch this space for some knitting. Which made me think "I haven't knitted a thing for bloody ages, why did I name the ( Read more... )

I'd LOVE to see this zombie-movie to be quite honest... Warm Bodies.

And isn't that the best kind of craft? That are things you can use in your every day life? I got a pile of those really lovely rags in black and various kinds of purple. They are AWESOME! And I still use them. :-D

I'm a bit curious about that one too, seems like a very different thing from other zombie movies.

Yeah. That's one of the reasons I never felt quite at home in art school (Estetiskt program på gymnasiet), because I wasn't political enough. My classmates wanted to do Art that changes the world, or at least talks very loudly about the changes they wanted to see. I realised I wanted to do beautiful things for everyday use, to surround people with beauty. Because I believe that people who have nice things around them become nicer people by it. ( I want to change the world too, but in a much subtler way...I'm not the type to stand on the barricades and shout.)

And I'm glad to hear it was a good gift, that you still use them. :-) (See the pink rag in the top middle? You were supposed to get that one too, but when I took it off the board I had it pinned out on it left a pink square on the board, and the bottom of the rag was light pink. And the topside was still the original hot pink. I won't be buying that yarn again, I think.)

Different takes on classical monsters are always fun! (As long as it don't get stupid like in Twilight... *cough, cough*)

Surrounding people with beautiful things is also important! Should not be underestimated that. It makes people feel better about themselves and all that. Which is important to!

Weird yarn though... Bleeding colour all over the place!

Have you read "Pride and prejudice and zombies"? Apropos the different take on classic monsters? It's way more fun than the original Austen... And Twilight is it's own little category, to be ignored as much as possible. (I wrote "poosible" on the first try... pretty much sums up my thoughts about Twilight, I think. Pure crap.)

Yarn or fabric that bleed or run are always a risk. But this yarn did it in such a weird way! It didn't bleed much in the wash, it was still a nice hot pink when I put it on the board to dry. I mean, that's where things usually go wrong - the colour ends up in the washing water, or on anything white in the same load. But this kept the colour beyond that point, and then it ended up "falling off" the backside of the knitting. There was even a sharp line down the side of the rag, something I didn't know was possible! Really, really weird.
