Does anyone know about the two people the episode was in memory of?
I was wondering that, too.
And yeah, I thought the casting and the scripting for both of their younger selves was pretty cool. *Loved* little kickass!Sam.

Young!Dean was such an asshole, which, er, yeah, that worked. They do a really good job casting them.

This one is more about their fucked-up-ness after that. Though Dean's weird issues with women play a significant role.
