I've always questioned the veracity of that Pompeii page. One of the guys is named Lesbianus?

IIRC, the island of Lesbos is still pissed-off that English-speakers made their name all sexy and stuff.

Yeah, I think "Lesbianus" would just be the male equivalent of "Lesbia" -- names/nicknames boiling down to "of $PLACENAME" are common enough in classical texts. "Lesbian" as a English-language reference to F/F sexuality only dates back to the late 1800s; the contemporary Latin term would have been tribas: http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/tribas

He might be from the island of Lesbos?

As an adjective pertaining to the L in LGBT, "lesbian" dates from the late 16th century, so it's not going to be on the mind of someone in first century Pompeii.

From the author insults:
29. Robert Louis Stevenson on Walt Whitman

“…like a large shaggy dog just unchained scouring the beaches of the world and baying at the moon.”

You know, I can't help but think Whitman would have taken that as a compliment.

Beyonce herself is amazing and she only amplifies her own amazingness by the amazing hotness of her band. I love watching her perform that that crew of hot, talented ladies.

Ah ha ha, I may have finally given in to all the TAB squee on LJ and Tumblr and mainlined the whole thing this week. I'm not really feeling the slash potential since Barnaby doesn't really do much for me, but Kotetsu is just pure adorkable love. (And I would happily listen to Hiroaki Hirata read the phone book.) Also, I yearn tragically for a live-action version with RuPaul playing Fire Emblem. WORK IT, GURL!

I love the worldbuilding too, this whole ridiculous corporate-sponsorship heroism model. I'm still on, IDK, 6 or so, but yeah, I'm not seeing the pairing too much, I just like everyone. HELL YES, BEST FIRE EMBLEM EVAH.

Barnaby just doesn't interest me as a character as much as the others -- he's basically just a younger blond bishie Batman, without the secret identity or cool butler. But I do like the way an actual friendship is building up between Barnaby and Kotetsu; I just can't really get into slashing them because aside from not being much into the character, B.'s haircut and dress sense really makes me giggle rather than drool. But that's fine because just watching everyone awkwardly learning to buddy around is more than entertaining enough to keep me happy!

I am a sucker for Batman, so. And yeah, I really like that they're starting to like each other.
