This makes me wonder how lost the Sanzo-ikkou would have to be to end up in Shin Makoku. (Or Juuni Kokki, where Gojyo and Hakkai could pray by a certain type of tree and it would grow them a child.)
As far as I'm aware, they've actually had very few half-Mazoku in the series.
I don't think Yozak or Conrad have shown up with kids, but nor have I seen anyone bring up that they can't.
Ditto Yuuri and Shouri. (Perhaps you would think Jennifer would be sad for no grandkids, except Yuuri adopts, and she may assume they're fertile without having had that awkward conversation with her husband that they're not.)
It's not come up with Eru. (Huber & Nicola's son.)
Are there any female half-Mazoku characters?
I just can't recall the issues of half-Mazoku fertility ever coming up. Perhaps this is why Wolfram is so willing to adopt?
Yeah, there's a really small sample size. I couldn't remember any female half-Mazoku, but I know I'm behind in the series. (I think Jennifer would be happy to just have GIRLS in the family.)
It might be! But it also might be that Wolfram is completely vulnerable to Adorable Girls, like, apparently, all Mazoku ever.
If there's nothing definitive either way, I can do what I want in this fic though, which is what I really want to do anyway....
I am also behind in the series, up to maybe 95? Not high into the 90s, at any rate.
I'm starting to wonder if there's something funny in the water that half-Mazoku children are always male! Are there any girls/children ever shown in the nameless village Yozak grows up in?
You're right - that icon is awesome :DpuddingcatMay 31 2009, 10:09:37 UTC
My personal opinion (for Saiyuki) is that female half-demons can have children, but males can't. That's what happens with big cats, anyway - you can get lion-tiger hybrids, but only the female offspring are fertile.
I've been wondering how to get a Conrad-Yozak-Gojyo crack!fic set up for a while now :)

Oh, that's interesting, I didn't know that! Yeah, it all goes down to genetics, and manga generally isn't much interested in getting down to that level of detail (which is fine by me).
