Well, generally I wouldn't make that decision based upon one issue. Some of the idea isn't so bad, so of it is. It has been my experience that the organization gets over the bad ideas pretty quickly.
Most assuredly not based on one decision but many, past, present, and upcoming. The one issue you are referring to is an attempt to try something different and I hold no animosity towards trying something different. Though from what I'm reading and hearing I don't see it being very successful or well received.
Yes that is true, it probably needed to be thought through a little more, but the idea of "pre-reg" for eric space has some merit. My only point is that by in large the SCA is pretty okay, just silly, stupid or crazy from time to time
I actually would love for periodic Crowns/Coronets to have reservations/pre-reg/lottery for eric space. It would give the Kingdom as a whole the chance to have "front row, center seats", as it were.
From my distant perspective it seems like there's been a bit more silly/stupid/crazy than usual and there's more coming down the pike. So to speak. :-)
Snort, hehe I'll be there at this Crown. But then I'm from Caid now (cough, really Aethelmarc, cough) and I got a standard issue teflon t-tunic with shiny gold trim, and the matching hip waders, thanks to surviving recent events. And a rather capable shovel for keeping my yard drama-free mostly.
Really, it's all just a matter of perspective. It's a silly game of dress up, and some Very (internally) Important People take it and themselves too seriously on a regular basis.
The rest of us are stubborn as hell, generally don't change things a hell of a lot, despite bitching. C'mon, we STIll have chain mail bikinis, despite many years of treating the most godawful sunburns you can get...
Lemme know when you want to play dress up with the fun kids again, we'll be here for ya :-P

I lived in Caid during times of extraordinarily high drama. It was not fun. The West is starting to feel like that which makes me very, very sad.
