Thank you for the lovely comments! Mary and Balthamos are from Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials trilogy, a fabulous book series but quiet fandom with a surprisingly small amount of fan fiction around.

I've had the icon for ages, but I haven't used for a while. Himmel über Berlin is one of my all-time favourite films.

Oh, that's beautiful. Perfect, just perfect Lupin. And I know exactly what you mean about Remus being so beautiful when he suffers. What a terribly complex and beautiful character. Many people who write him all the time don't do him justice as you just did. Thanks for this! I'll be putting it up in my memories. :)

You're most welcome. :) It makes me happy to know you liked the ficlet; I always feel very self-conscious about writing anything HP, because it's such a huge fandom with so many incredibly good authors.

Huh. I like it. We don't see much of pre-Lyra Mary, with her skepticism intact. And good characterization of Balthamos, too, with the resignation and the brusque, do-what-you-will attitude. Thank you very much!

(I agree with the above comments, by the way. Paper Moon was very pretty, and Requirements was a funny idea.)

HDM fan fiction is a little tricky to write, because Pullman's narration tends to track all of his characters very carefully and there are far fewer missing scenes to be written than, say, in Harry Potter. So I opted for pre-trilogy!Mary, and Balthamos is such a wonderful character that it would have been a shame to let him go unused.

I just read the Snape/Sirius ficlet, and omg - BWAHAHAHA!!! Apparently I'm going to need to read more of your fic, regardless of whether I know or even like the pairings or not, because that was just fucking priceless. Leave it to you to be so versatile and to get me reading pairings I wouldn't bother with if other people wrote them *g

I honestly don't know what corner of my brain the Snape/Sirius originated from. And I thought I'd been to some pretty weird places already. *g*

Mary and Balthamos are characters in Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials trilogy. The books are quite popular, but there's no active online fandom for them, at least in terms of fan fiction, so I'm not surprised you didn't recognise the characters.

As for the Lupin drabble, you know I love me some angst, and he's got plenty of angst potential, so... hence the imagery.

Thank you once again for the lovely and detailed feedback, darling! :) I usually abhor writing Potterfic, because the fandom is huge and scary and has many excellent authors, so it's particularly nice to hear those ficlets worked for you.
