Earlier this week one of my childhood neighbor's daughters randomly posted a picture of her eldest son on her Facebook page. Nothing weird about that, really--it's her kid, she loves him and is wanting to share pics of him with her family and friends, right? And she somewhat regularly posts pics of her kids and grandkids, so no big whoop, right ( Read more... )

Is it just me, or has there been an uptick in the number of people declaring terminal fuckits over the past few years?

Yeah, my agnostic curmudgeonly old self sent away to a Catholic ordering house for wallet sized prayer cards, LOL.

People are apparently hard-wired to be religious; those of us who don't get it are mutants. If it provides comfort and doesn't harm anyone else, do what you like. Even if it seems contradictory.

Best wishes for Tim, his family, and you. *hugs*

Is it just me, or has there been an uptick in the number of people declaring terminal fuckits over the past few years?Yep, I've noticed that. Times are tough and getting tougher, and more and more people are going with The Permanent Solution to Mostly Temporary Problems thing, it seems. It absolutely sucks for them, of course, but it also absolutely sucks for those left behind trying to sort out the pieces left behind. I still find myself reeling sometimes from friend Terry's self-chosen departure, and that's going on two years gone now? I've had my own ideations and a couple of half-hearted attempts over the years, but the "stay alive and prove the assholes wrong" part of me is still stronger than the "terminal fuckit" is, so...yeah...As of yet I don't officially know if Tim's was a case of terminal fuckit or something else of otherwise bad and unnatural nature, but...I've got A Really Bad Feeling it's one or the other...Thing is, I don't actually know if I really want to know--I think I'd rather choose to remember the good stuff ( ... )
