Is there really any difference?

It didn't seem possible. After all this time, all his careful planning and waiting, they were finally here. The short walk from the train station had been surreal, like a dream, and he couldn't help but wonder... What if it was? How would he know the difference? Was there any way to be certain?

He blinked, startled by the sound of her voice. It wasn't until then that he realized somewhere in the midst of his contemplation, he had simply... stopped.

"Oh," he murmured, clearing his throat as he moved to catch up with her. "My apologies."

Kate was taken back but, the normalcy of it all. She expected some dreary castle in the middle of nowhere. This place was perfectly ordinary.

She examined every bit of it as closely as she could. Nope still ordinary. If she appeared at the moment, one could see her frowning. No wonder they could never find the Orden.

"You've been distracted for a while." Kate finally spoke up. If this was supposed to be her comrade she had to start treating him like one. His behavior on the train earned the right too. "Is everything alright?"

Caterina crossed her arms over her chest as she observed that exchange. "I think perhaps someone had just a little too much of the wine, don't you think?"

He waved a hand dismissively. "Of course. Everything's fine," he insisted.

He shot Caterina a rather pointed look as he caught up with her, just in time to hear that remark. "I did not." Hmph. "I was just... thinking."
