DAMMIT. YOU MADE ME CRY.

But can't say it wasn't really REALLY well done. I'm not sure who I'm sadder for, Varric or Sebastian.

Epic Tragedy, much?

I have such a weakness for that dying "tell me a story" shit. You did it perfectly. Thanks for sharing.

AWW! Thank you so much! I'm incredibly flattered to hear it affected you so much! DA2 just lends itself so well to tragedy, especially because of how close Hawke is to the characters by the end. It all feels so personal. And yes, poor Varric and Sebastian! Both have lost something precious to them forever. =(

Dragon Age 2 is bloody depressing and lends itself so well to angst. Shedding a tear for this one, I come to reread it for inspiration sometimes. :)

I'm a sucker for unrequited romance, and I have no idea why.

Wow! Thank you! *blush* I'm glad you like it so much! And I agree completely, DA2 is just such a dark game, practically prompts all the angst. I'm much the same way, too, those unrequited romances lure me in every time!

Also, I just noticed you're the author who wrote "The Blue-Eyed Monster"! That is my favorite piece of DA2 fic that I've read so far! So phenomenally well done! I may have to check out your other Sebastian works now . . .

I loved the game, but going through without spoilers while romancing Anders just about killed me. Good lord. Still, the writing that's been spilling from the internet is phenomenal. I love it when people come together to mess with lore and interpret it in different ways.

It's seriously freaking me out how many people have read it. (My last fic got maybe 20 views, and so the explosion of people going 'Oh, wow, you're the person who wrote this!' is a little startling.) I'm glad you liked it!

Also, your icon. Holy wow, I want it. *grabby hands* May I?

I romanced Anders the first time, too, completely unawares as to how it would turn out. Very heartbreaking! Oh, yes, the creativity that DA2 has inspired and continues to is just incredible! It's such a delightful environment to write in, very supportive and inspiring. It is interesting to see everyone's point of view on the events and lore, I agree!

Fandom is a small world, I guess! xD I'm more of a fic writer than reader, personally, but yours was just too well-written to pass up.

Oh, please do! =D I've been working on a batch of Seb icons for a while now, but there's so few screencaps of him! *fistshake*

Oh, man, you broke my heart a little...

I love angst, so all of the typical (but well-done) angstiness here worked really well for me: the speckles of blood, Hawke waiting for a man who doesn't come in time, Varric trying so hard to be there for her... I think Varric's being funny actually makes this all the sadder. You have him down so well. His line about the ironic names made me smile.

I think what I like most about this, though, is the way you messed with the idea of Varric as an editor, a "biographer", and used that idea throughout to reinforce the tragedy. I love seeing things that play on Varric's penchant for storytelling, especially when he's... well, messing with the story. *hearts*

Aww, thank you so very much! You pretty much listed everything I was going for here, and that makes me so happy that it came across properly. =) I feel like Hawke's story, in essence, is a tragedy, and that Varric privately wishes it were otherwise, even if it's a good tale. He does see himself as her biographer, but also her friend; she's not just some nameless Champion of Kirkwall to him. It's an interesting relationship that I enjoy exploring. And poor Seb's never in the right place at the right time to save the ones he loves.

Thank you again for reading and the thoughtful comment!

This!!! So much this.

I wish they did more of this in-game, although the hints of it they give you are so perfect.

(Your icon, by the way, makes Seb look like a lost puppy. Not that that's a bad thing. At all.)

tears :~~

So beautiful, but if I must say, the best part for me is the treatment you gave Varric. I've only ever seen comic fic with him, and I guess an emotional one can easily turn too ooc, but this.. this is perfect!

Thank you! ^^ I do love Varric's character, and it was interesting writing him a different context than normal. Glad you enjoyed!
