Northern Lights

I've just watched an interesting program on the Science Channel, "The Riddle of the Polar Sky". The Aurora Borealis has long fascinated me. I've only seen it once or twice, and that was as a kid in Illinois. One trip L_H and I look forward to is an opportunity to share the experience ( Read more... )

Yes, you can see them from space. Michigan Tech has some mostly lousy images viewable here.

I know similar phenomena exist on Jupiter, Saturn, and Uranus. I don't know about Venus though.

Thanks for the information - and the pictures. You say they're "mostly lousy", but - since I'm not likely to see the same view in person - they're the best I've ever seen.

I liked the southern lights because it was SO much easier to see the Milky Way.. but as for a full comparative preference... not enough info to conclude :>
