Movies meme.

So I encountered--somewhere, can't remember where--a meme where one selects quotes from twenty of one's favorite movies and posts them, and people have to guess the movies. The problem is that I kind of hate watching movies and so know very few of them. I picked ten. There should be 20, though. Uh... pretend there are? ( Quotes are from Wikiquote and may be wrong. )

movies, meme, quotes

1. The Princess Bride, of course.
4. I'm guessing My Fair Lady, though I only know the gist of the story and have never seen the film.
5. WALL-E
6. Serenity

10 seems horribly familiar somehow, but I cannot for the life of me remember where I heard it.

Yes to all of them. (My Fair Lady is a lot of fun. The soundtrack's better for the stage musical version, since Audrey Hepburn wasn't trained as a singer and they dubbed someone else over her (without her knowledge, if I remember right--that is, she learned the songs and expected to sing them, and then saw the final version and it wasn't her singing) with a totally different timbre, but the movie is very good other than that.)

I maybe should have screened comments or something so that people could guess without knowing someone else had gotten there first?

2. Mama Mia! Although I only know because I saw the stage version.
9. LEGALLY BLOND :D

Seven, eight, and ten sound weirdly familiar but I can't place them.

Indeed, for both the ones you guessed. *grins*

(I'm always surprised by how much I like Legally Blonde. The first time I saw it I thought it was going to be the stupidest thing ever, but I really enjoyed it, and said enjoyment has not diminished with repeat viewings. And Mamma Mia! is just pure fun. I totally deny singing along in the theatre. >_>)

The first time I took Women's Studies, we had to critique Legally Blonde and it kind of broke my soul. I think it's an incredibly feminist film. 'Cause dammit, you don't have to be an aggressive lesbian pants-wearing intellectual to be a strong woman!

Also it had Ali Larter as the defendant and Ali Larter is fantastic.

We watched it in my sociology class and I'm not sure what we were supposed to do, but it was the end of the semester--this was the class I took senior year of high school--and nobody was really paying attention.

But it is a feminist film. It's saying "you can be girly and pretty and intelligent and capable. You don't have to choose, and you don't have to give up ruffly pink things to be whatever the current definition of 'real woman' is."

All the other ones I know have been guessed already.
