Disclaimers: I own nothing in this fic--with the exception of my own nonsense.

Kris wormed his way towards the exit, heart hammering in his chest. It had been two months since he last touched base in LA, and he was sincerely glad to be back. His last two months in Arkansas had been chaotic, so he was definitely looking forward to some rest and relaxation at a hotel before house-hunting and job-hunting.

He believed he had come back a better man, no longer burdened about his identity and whether he belonged or not. He had come out to his parents about everything: being tired of Arkansas, wanting to move to LA, and even about being gay. It had been difficult for his parents to swallow at first, but Daniel backed him up and they wound up being very understanding about the entire thing. He had also come clean to his friends about what happened during their last night in LA, which caused them to lapse into an uncomfortable silence. Megan had broken it, stating loudly that she was proud of Kris and that he should fly back to LA immediately to see Adam. Allison and Lil immediately echoed her demands, and Matt and Anoop said that they were willing to accept this new facet of Kris. However, the hardest thing he had to do was talk to Katy, because it all meant that they were going to break up. She had certainly gotten angry at him, especially after he admitted that he had slept with Adam. He tried to call her before he left, but she refused to answer the phone. Still, they had been friends for several years, and Kris firmly believed that time would heal all wounds.

The only thing that constantly haunted him for those two months was Adam, whom he really missed and desperately wanted to see - provided that he was still welcome in Adam’s life. He knew it would be rational to doubt Adam, but a bigger part of him remained firmly rooted to the belief that Adam would never leave him in the dust. It wasn’t advisable to put so much faith into someone he had only met once, but general truths didn’t always apply to Adam Lambert.

He paused, and then followed the long queue of people shuffling out of the exit, his heart pounding faster by the minute. It stopped completely the moment he saw a familiar dark-haired man holding up a glittery signboard that spelled out ‘Kris Allen’ in bold blue letters, grinning from ear to ear.

“…oh my god”, he uttered dumbly.

Adam was standing on the very bench that Kris had indicated in his letter, yelling something that was quite inaudible over the loud airport noises. It didn’t matter, though, because Kris pushed his trolley to the side and ran towards him, grinning wildly himself. Glittery signboard forgotten, Adam hopped off the bench to meet Kris, catching him in a hug so tight that he felt his toes leave the ground.

“…you’re here”, Kris murmured disbelievingly, feeling tears sting his eyes. “You’re really here.”

“Damn right, I am”, Adam said fiercely, unable to mask the emotion in his voice. “I fucking missed you, Kris Allen. You don’t know how hard it was for me to wait for so long.”

“I’m sorry”, Kris mumbled, afraid that he would start sobbing incoherently any moment now. “I wanted to stay, but there were a lot of loose ends to tie up. I couldn’t just leave them behind and move on; it wouldn’t have been fair to those I’ve left behind…or even you, for that matter.”

“Hush, you don’t need to explain”, Adam petted his hair comfortingly. “I told you before that I understand where you’re coming from, and I’m saying it again. I’m proud of you, Kris.”

Kris pulled back a little so he could see Adam’s face. He was more handsome than Kris had remembered, even though he was wearing a lot less makeup compared to the last time they were together. His blue eyes shone brightly, gazing at Kris with such a deep, adoring affection.

“You look good”, he said softly, cupping Kris’ face with his big hands. “You definitely look like you have a lot less emotional baggage to deal with.”

“Thanks”, Kris beamed goofily. “You always look good, Adam Lambert.”

“Seriously, even without most of my makeup?” Adam made a face. “I didn’t have time to dress properly and primp up because I ended up oversleeping.”

“Where were you last night?” Kris frowned.

“Relax, I wasn’t doing anything bad”, Adam chuckled, pressing a kiss to his temple. “I ended up staying late in the studio because we were going over some new selections for my upcoming album.

Kris smiled, delighted at the fact that his theory about Adam being in the entertainment business was correct. He’d always liked writing songs, so maybe they could team up some time.

“I never dated anyone while you were away, Kris”, Adam said seriously, gripping him by the shoulders. “I couldn’t stop thinking about you. You’re sweet, safe and perfect - things I never saw in those other men I used to date. At first, I didn’t know what to do after I read your letter. I had the option of going back to my old life, which would be so fucking easy to do. But after that night we spent together, I realized that I’m too old to be living that kind of life, and it’s not one I want to spend the rest of my years living. I decided that I wanted to work my ass off until I become successful and that I wanted to settle down into a real relationship. I remembered you, and realized that I wanted to give us a shot - no, I wanted to make us work. I love you, Kristopher Allen. Will you still have me…?”

Kris made a strange noise that sounded like a cross between crying and laughing, blown away by the gravity of Adam’s words. Unable to muster any sort of coherent response, he pressed himself close to Adam and hugged him tightly, delighted that he didn’t have to let go.

“I’ll have you, yes”, he whispered, his voice shaking. “I’ll have you every second, every minute, every hour, every day - oh god; I’ll have you as long as you’ll have me.”

“Oh, Kris baby”, Adam buried his face into Kris’ hair. “I love you so goddamn much, and you have no idea how thrilled I am that you’re finally here with me.”

“I need your help starting over”, Kris said with a shaky laugh. “I don’t know the next thing about finding a job and a place to stay here in LA.”

“I’m not going to allow you to stay on your own”, Adam growled possessively. “My place is snug enough for the both of us, ya hear me?”

“Yes, Adam”, Kris giggled; trying to combat the glare Adam was shooting him. “I’ll be a good boyfriend and live with you.”

“Good”, Adam released him, looking much less savage. “Now, we should get going so you can settle in. You just flew across the continent, so it’s straight to bed for you.”

“Why Adam, I didn’t know you wanted to nail me already”, Kris teased him slyly.

“I always want to nail you”, Adam said smoothly, marching Kris’ trolley towards the parking area. “But we’ll save that for tonight because you need your rest.”

“You’re so bossy”, Kris complained, elbowing him in the ribs.

“I’m the boss of you now, pumpkin”, Adam grinned, tucking Kris under his arm. “And in return, I will give you permission to be the boss of me.”

“Sounds like a fair trade”, Kris chuckled. “Man, this is going to be one helluva ride, huh?”

“Of course it is”, Adam smirked. “Remember, you’re riding shotgun with me now.”

As they walked to Adam’s car, Kris took his time taking in the view of his new home. Suddenly excited, he jogged faster to catch up with Adam, silently daring LA - which would always be Los Diablos to him - to bring it on. It was going to be a wild ride in the glitzy city of demons, but his angel would be right there next to him, making everything worth the future crashes and accidents.

He couldn’t wait to get started.
