So. I have a million things to post about, and a bazillion flist entries to catch up on, but first, you guys are gonna ( help me choose a college. Please? )
Maria, I don't think I can vote just yet, because this is a hard decision.
I understand what you say about Amherst vs Stanford. And, guh, this is really just confusing me too, because I think you would be great at either or. So, even if you've heard this or thought of any of this before, I've just got some thoughts of my own. You're completely allowed to disregard anything I say or not agree or not read at all. I'm just - college decisions are important, and I want to help in any way I can.
First of all, don't worry about the partying. I didn't know squat about partying before college. My friends in high school were dorky youth group kids, and the worst thing we ever did was stay out a little too late. So don't let your lack of partying knowledge get in your way.
Second, don't let the curriculum sway you. Math and science are my two worst subjects, and I almost died when I realized I had to take two classes in each in order to fulfill my general requirements. But there are always loop holes. There's sciences classes for science

This is a hard decision. What it all boils down to is what is going to make you happy. It's the next four years of your life and they can be the best ones you have. I know my college experience is something I would never give up

Speaking as someone who went to the same college as my older sister did, I say Amherst. Looking back, I really do wish I'd had an option other than 'deis. I ended up basically loving my time there, but I still, to this day, feel like it kept me from growing and doing as much as I could have. I knew what was there, it was easy, I didn't have to experiment or even look for new activities to try or whatever. I already knew the campus, knew the people, knew a lot of stuff about the school, and that all made it a lot less scary... but to this day I'm hesitant to try new things or push myself into new situations. I wish I'd gone to a school which really HAD been all new and all mine

this was such a lovely entry because of the simple fact that you see colleges very differently from the way i do (i.e. an international student) i would love to rant but i don't have the time right now but yeah...just wow. i think your choices here are all pretty amazing AND GOODNESS YOU GOT INTO STANFORD and i don't remember if i congratulated you on that because i am in LOVE with stanford.
basically, because of the way i look at things i don't feel like i can really be of any great help because as an american your circumstances are super, super different and yeah.
but all the best with things! i hope to sort out my college this coming week. and it's most probably a local college i'm okay with. wesleyan wasn't meant to be.

I feel like Katybeth must have told me that you went there before, but it never stuck in my mind.
