Daiki smiled as he pressed the doorbell of Lavender House Orphanage. In his other hand, he brought a bag filled with presents. The door opened, revealin a lady in her early sixties. "Ogata-sensei," Daiki said, as he entered the house, giving the old lady a hug.

"Daiki," said Ogata-sensei. "My my," she said, "you've grown, my boy."

Daiki puffed his cheeks. "But yet, I'm still short."

Suddenly, the sound of children running down the stairs could be heard. "It's Daiki nii-chan! Onii-chan is here!" Daiki laughed as the children gave him a hug.

"Onii-chan! We thought you've forgotten about us," said a girl about 10 years-old with her hair tied in two ponytails.

"Baka," a boy about the same age retorted. "Just because Daiki onii-chan wasn't here for Christmas, doesn't mean he forgotten about us."

The girl glared at the boy. "Who are you calling baka, baka?!"

Daiki laughed, and before the two children could start a fight, he said, "Now, now, both of you. What have I told you about call-naming?" The two children muttered their apologies, making Daiki laugh harder.

"But, we really miss you, nii-chan," a girl about 8 years old, said.

Daiki squatted so that he'd be the same height as the girl. He ruffled the girl's hair and said, "Gomen ne, Ringo-chan. I had to go to Okinawa." Then, he stood up, a huge grin on his face, "To make up for missing Christmas, I brought all of you presents~"

"Yay!" cried the children.

"Of course, I'll only give it to you once the older children returns from school," Daiki smirked as the children hused down, while the boys called out, "Booo!"

Ogata-sensei laughed, saying, "Come on now, cut Daiki some slack." She looked at Daiki. "Would you stay for New Year's dinner?" The children looked at him with puppy-dog eyes. "Please..." they said.

Daiki laughed again. "Alright, alright."

"Children, why don't you help me in the kitchen and Daiki-..."

"I'll help too," Daiki said, but Ogata-sensei glared at him.

"No," she said. "Just relax, and make yourself at home. It's been awhile since you came here. Why don't you roam around."

Daiki nodded his head in agreement, and then, the children, along with Ogata-sensei, went to the kitchen. Daiki sighed. "So, what am I going to do now?" he said to himself. In this orphanage, he had grew up. That is, until he was 16 years of age. By that time, he had moved out, and live with the Takaki family. Of course, he didn't stay there for free. In return for the shelter, schooling and music classes that Mrs. Takaki gave him, he worked at the hotel belonged to the Takaki family during summer and the holidays. During other times, he worked part time with the Takaki family, helping Mrs. Takaki with anything she needed.

Daiki went to the orphanage's backyard. He smiled when he saw the old shack. He coughed when he entered the shack. He looked around it. Just as Ogata-sensei promised, no one had entered this shack ever since he left, and she didn't moved a thing. When he was younger, he and a very close friend always hanged out here. His friend was talented in carpentry and in this shack is where he did his wood work.

Suddenly, Daiki scrunched his face. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't recall the name of his friend when he was young. He remembered that when he was about 11 year-old, his friend and his friend's younger sister had been adopted. Daiki shook his head. "Of course I won't remember his name," he said, "It's been more than ten years since then." Daiki looked around the shack again. "Since I'm here now, might as well do something productive." So, Daiki began his task of cleaning the shack.

"Ryo-chan!" Keito called out when he saw his cousin in the hallway. Yamada stopped walking and waited for Keito.

"Yo!" Yamada said when Keito was beside him.

"What is this all about?" Keito asked as they started walking.

"What's what about?" Yamada asked back, confused.

"You and Nakajima-san."

Yamada raised his eyebrow. "What about Yuto and I?"

Keito looked at Yamada, weird. "Weren't you the one who kept avoiding Nakajima-san the whole two weeks we were at Takaki-san's mansion?"

Yamada stopped walking. Keito stopped following his cousin's action. "I guess, by avoiding Yuto I was being childish?" Keito looked at Yamada blankly. Yamada sighed. "For someone as bright as you, you're pretty dumb right now."

"Hey!" Keito protested.

"But seriously, I didn't know why I was mad at Yuto for not coming for me," Yamada said.

"It's because you consider him as your best friend," Keito replied.

"Wise words, Keito," laughed Yamada. Keito smacked Yamada's head as they continued walking.

Somewhere in Tokyo, there was a big building, Odagiri Organization. To people, Odagiri Organization is just an ordinary, big corporate organization. Unknown to them, Odagiri Organization is also something else.

Odagiri Ken crumpled the paper in his hand. "HARUKI!" he yelled. Soon after, a guy in his mid-thirties entered the office of the head of Odagiri Organiztion.

"Yes, sir?" he said.

Odagiri slammed his hands on the table as he stood up. "Why is that kid with Saya?!" he said angrily, throwng the newspaper at Haruki. The man picked up the paper. He was shocked to see the content. A picture of Yamada Ryosuke at the Christmas ball.

"What do youwish me to do, sir?" asked Haruki.

"Investigate him for me." And with that, Haruki was sent out of the room.

---------------------------------------------------------------

"Daiki!" Inoo yelled when Daiki arrived to their room just in time before curfew.

"Shhh~" Daiki said, trying to hush Inoo down.

"Where were you?" asked Inoo. "You weren't at dinner and a few minutes late, you might be locked outside the academy."

"I was visiting the orphanage and somehow, the kids managed making me agree on staying for dinner," explained Daiki. "It's not like I went partying in a bar or anything."

Inoo chuckled at what the latter had said. "Anyway, you're lucky Yabu won't be patrolling tonight."

"Why? Is Yabu and Shoon having sex to celebrate New Year?"

Inoo looked at Daiki with a raised eyebrow while saying, "No, I don't think they'll be able to get rid of Takaki that easily."

"They could always shove Takaki into Yamada's room."

"Then where do you reckon they put Chinen?"

"Shoon's room."

Inoo facepalmed at Daiki's answer. "Your head is messed up." Daiki's only reply was a hearty laugh, which Inoo soon joined. After sobering themselves, Daiki cleaned himself up, and hopped onto bed. There he lay awake, thinking about Ogata-sensei's revealation before he returned to the academy.

FLASHBACK

Daiki hugged Ogata-sensei goodbye. "I'm glad you came, Daiki," she said, smiling.

"Me too, Ogata-sensei," he replied.

"Oh, how I wish Yu-chan would return as well," Ogata-sensei said, looking far away.

"Yu-chan?" Daiki asked, confused.

"Don't you remember?" asked Ogata-sensei. "When you were young, both of you won't go anywhere without the other."

"I remembered vaguely," said Daiki.

"After Yu-chan and Mio was adopted, I lost touch of them," Ogata-sensei sighed regretfully, for she had always kept in touch with the kids under her care.

END OF FLASHBACK

"I wonder where Yu-chan went after leaving the orphanage?" Daiki thought before falling asleep.

------------------------------------------------

Daiki, Takaki and Hikaru snickered while Inoo just sighed, shaking his head at his three friends when Yabu entered the cafeteria with Shoon, limping. Yup, limping. When the two reached their table, Hikaru commented, "Had too much fun last night?" he grinned mischievously, making his two other friends laughed hard, and Inoo smacking the three of them at the back of their head.

"Go kill yourself, why don't 'cha?" Yabu muttered as he and Shoon sat down.

"Oooh~ Mood swings," Hikaru continued teasing.

Yabu would have wring Hikaru's neck if Shoon hadn't stepped in. "Guys, I think we have bigger things to discuss about now." Everyone looked at Shoon, their vice-president. "It's the new year," said Shoon, "meaning, new students, ceremonies, and also there're events to plan out."

Inoo sighed. "Shoon's right," he said. "Other than that, Shoon will be graduating this spring, and Yabu, Hikaru, Takaki and I the next, so we have to get new members soon."

Yabu nodded his head. "Will hold a meeting after breakfast."

"That won't be possible, Yabu," said Inoo. "I have intensive practice with Chiaki-sensei after breakfast."

"After classes then," said Yabu. "The usual time." Everyone agreed and they continued on with breakfast.

--------------------------------------------------

"Yu-chan, that's so cool," 10 year-old Daiki said while watching his best friend makes a wooden flute.

"Ari-chan, you're praising me too much," Yu-chan said shyly, blushing.

Daiki puffed his cheeks. "Mou, do you realize that you're the only one in this house who calls me Ari-chan? I want you to call me Dai-chan!"

"Demo..."

"DA-I-CHAN!" said Daiki.

Yu-chan sighed, saying, "Alright, I'll call you Dai-chan."

"Yatta!" Daiki said happily, throwing his fist in the air.

"Fancy meeting you here," Daiki heard someone said. He looked up to see Yuto staring at him.

"What are you doing here?"

"I could ask you the same thing," Yuto replied. They were currently sitting on the rooftop of the academy.

"I was just thinking," answered Daiki.

"What about?" Yuto asked, taking a seat beside Daiki.

"A childhood friend," Daiki answered, looking at the sky.

"His sister, Mio-chan and him was adopted when I was 11, and I've forgotten his full name so I can't search for him."

Yuto was taken aback. "Did you say...Mio?"

Daiki returned his gaze at Yuto, nodding. "Yes, Mio." The next thing Yuto said surprised Daiki.

"Take me to the orphanage, please."
