"Tadaima," the tall teen said when he arrived at the family-ramen shop.
"Okaeri, Yuto-kun," Mrs. Morimoto greeted him.
He went to the register an kept the cash he received for that day in it. "Mr. Hiyama was satisfied with the ramen," he said.
"Of course," Mr. Morimoto said, laughing.
"Anata, don't be too conceited," Mrs. Morimoto said playfully.
Yuto smiled, looking at the scene. The family-love atmosphere is something he really yearned for. "Where's Ryutaro?" Usually, when he returns from a job, loud noises could be heard from the Morimoto brothers, Ryutaro and Shintaro. They would fight from small things like a bowl of ramen to big things. But although they always fight, the siblings love one another very much.
"Probably upstairs, practcing his clarinet," Mrs. Morimoto answered.
"Hmm..." was all Yuto said. "What about Shintaro?"
"Oh, he's sleeping over at a friend's house," Mr. Morimoto answered.
"I see," Yuto replied. "Arigatou, Morimoto okaa-san, Morimoto otou-san."
"So, Yuto-kun, what do you want for dinner?" Mr. Morimoto asked. "I'll make you any ramen you want." However, Yuto had already disappeared to the upstairs floor at that time. "That kid," Mr. Morimoto said with a chuckle.
Mrs. Morimoto finished cleaning the dishes. She took off her apron. "I wonder what's going to happen to that boy."
"He's a strong kid, that boy," Mr. Morimoto said. After locking the door, Mr. Morimoto went to sit at one of the tables with his wife.
"I just wish he would accept our offer to send him to high school to finish his education," Mrs. Morimoto sighed.
"Yuto-kun is an independant boy," Mr. Morimoto said. "He wouldn't accept our offer no matter what."
"Did something happened-..."
"Ayana," Mr. Morimoto cut in. "Remember? We promised Yuto-kun we wouldn't question anything about his past when we took him in two years ago." Mrs. Morimoto just sighed again.

Ryutaro put down his clarinet. "Still not good enough," Ryutaro said to himself. He was practicing a symphony composed by Mozart. His school's orchestra is going to perform it in a festival soon.
"You should take a break."
Ryutaro immediately looked behind him. Yuto was standing at the door, leaning against the door frame. "Yuto-kun!" Ryutaro said. "I didn't realize you're back from food delivery."
"I have been home for quite a while now," Yuto said. "You were practicing and I didn't want to bother you so I waited outside."
Ryutaro's face turned red. "U-Uhm, how was it?"
Yuto entered Ryutaro's room. "You were good," he said, ruffling the younger teen's hair.
"Not good enough to land me in Kitagawa Music Academy though," Ryutaro said.
"You're hardworking and talented, Ryutaro," Yuto said. "I'm sure you will be able to enter."
Ryutaro shrugged. "Well, I'll only know it after Christmas, when the new session starts."
There was a glint in Yuto's eyes. "Well, you can wish that for your Christmas present," he said with a laugh. Ryutaro playfully smacked Yuto's hand. Yuto stood up. "But you should be sleeping now, Ryutaro. You have school tomorrow."
"Hey! I'm not a kid anymore!" Ryutaro said, but Yuto had already disappeared from sight. Then, Ryutaro looked at Shintaro's bed, where Yuto had sat. 'I would rather wish that you're always by my side.'

Takaki opened his eyes when the rays of light went into his eyes. The sunlight had came in from the window. For a moment, Takaki was surprised to see the sleeping Yamada in his embrace. A moment later, he remembered what happened.
FLASHBACK
In the middle of the night, Takaki was awaken from his slumber by a noise. Takaki had managed to pinpoint the source of the noise. It was Yamada; he was sleep-talking. Despite what Yamada had told him earlier, Takaki went to Yamada's side of the room. 'He's sweating,' Takaki thought. 'Does he has a nightmare?'
Yamada turned from one side to the other in his sleep. 'S-Stop," he said.
Takaki saw the scared look on Yamada's face. 'Whatever he's dreaming about, he must be really scared,' Takaki thought. He didn't know why, but he just took Yamada in his embrace. At first, the sleeping Yamada became stiff, Takaki was afraid that he'll wake up or tries to struggle, but soon, he felt Yamada's body relaxes. Yamada's hard breathing became calmer within seconds. Takaki smiled, brushing away the few strands of hair that covered Yamada's eyes. 'Whatever nightmare you were having, I hope you'll have a good night sleep for now.'
END OF FLASHBACK
Takaki removed the younger teen from himself slowly, careful not to wake him up. When he was about to walk back to his side of the cabin, he heard Yamada muttered in his sleep, "Yuto."
-----------------------------------
Yamada stirred in his sleep. He slowly opened his eyes. Seeing the unfamiliar scene, he thought, 'Where am I?' A second later, he remembered. 'Oh yeah, I was locked up in a cabin.' Yamada sat cross-legged on the floor. Because his back was facing Takaki, he didn't see the older teen.
"So, you're finally awake?"
Yamada was startled to hear Takaki's voice. He had forgotten that Takaki was there too. 'Why is my heart beating fast?' Yamada thought. He turned to face Takaki, putting on his cold mask. However, the faint blush on his cheeks is still apparent to other viewers. "Has anyone come for us yet?"
"Nope," Takaki answered.
"Kuso," Yamada cursed.
"Calm down," said Takaki.
Yamada glared at Takaki. "You seem calm enough about this."
"I know Hikaru will find us soon," Takaki exclaimed.
Just as Takaki said, a few moment later, Hikaru and a few others appeared, slamming the door opened. "Takaki/ Takaki-san, Yamada-san," they had cried out.
Takaki stood up as his best friend ran towards him. "Baka. Why does it take you one whole night to realize I'm gone?" Hikaru just smiled sheepishly.
Meanwhile, Shina sensei went to Yamada. "Yamada-kun, are you alright?"
"Fine," Yamada said coldly, walking out of the cabin.
"He's just plain rude," one of the contestants that helped looked for them, said.
"He had a rough night," Takaki said. "It's understandable is he's grumpier than usual."
-----------------------------------------
Takaki was chilling out in Hikaru's room. He was on Hikaru's bed while the other boy sat on the chair.
"So, it was one of the contestants that locked Yamada and I in the cabin?"
"Apparently so," Hikaru replied, his eyes on the television. "He probably sees Yamada as a threat, and you were there too when he wants to lock Yamada in. So, probably he thought the less the competition, the better."
"Talking about the competition..."
"It will be postponed to tomorrow."
"Oh...that's good," said Takaki.
--------------------------------------------
Yamada went to a park, somewhere far from the hotel they were staying in. He took in the peaceful atmosphere there. After finding a comfortable place to sit, he took out his cell phone and called Keito.
"Ryosuke?" came a reply from the other line.
"Yeah, it's me, Keito," Yamada said.
"Ryosuke! WHAT ON EARTH WERE YOU THINKING?! HAVE YOU ANY IDEA HOW WORRIED I WAS ABOUT YOU?!"
Yamada pulled the cell phone away from his ears. He had expected Keito to yell at him. After all, he didn't get to call Keito yesterday. "Gomen, Keito, but something happened."
"What? Are you injured?"
"No, I'm not injured," Yamada said. "And you don't have to come to Sapporo," Yamada said, knowing Keito's unvoiced intention. Yamada could hear Keito sighed.
"Anyway, take care of yourself, Ryosuke," Keito said.
"Hai."
