Once upon a time, an elderly gentleman, for reasons of his own, put up several life-sized deer. All were realistically painted, including one impressive 8 point buck, up on a small rise by the edge of his property, by the road. To prevent these decorations from being
"tipped" by local rascals, he anchored them deeply into the into the ground, using lengths of concrete-filled pipe.
As life would have it, one fellow, enabled and enhanced with a snort or two of Dutch courage, decided that, lacking his deer rifle, decided his pick-up truck would be a suitable method of taking down these faux deer. The steel pipes, filled with concrete, once upon a time anchors, now functioned as lolly-columns, inflicting grievous damage to the pick-up, Additionally, the vehicle was now "hooked" over the lolly-column, unable to advance over the rise or retreat back without ripping out the front axle.
