I've been in a deep crafter mode lately. It's a nice reprieve from school, work and my head. Tomorrow bf and I are spending the day together.. but doing what? I dunno, it'll be like 115degrees.. not even joking:

So I am wondering how you cut out a pattern? Is it from an existing pattern or are you making your own?

I want to make Trevor and I floor length hooded coats and I am struggling with how I am going to cut the fabric...

Honestly, it depends. If it's an easy pattern, I actually buy it.. if it's a little harder or more specific to an idea I have, I will generally make it. I know it's back-ass-wards, but my theory is -why waste time re-inventing the wheel?

What kind of hooded coat? A full jacket pattern or cape/cloak? Some designs are much easier then other to create. For instance, a Kimono style is very easy. If you give me an idea of what you want to design, I can probably walk you through the design.

I'm working on two hoodies right now.. so I can even mail you a copy of the hoodie pattern if that's what you're working on.

Let me know, I would love to help. Helping people turn their vision into reality is one of my favorite parts of sewing :D

I want to make him more cloak style. He wants it like the jedi coats. I want mine to be a little more fitted for warmth. This is all with white fur by the way, that I want to line with white satin. Which I am also not sure how to do. I am assuming I need to line it all before I sew the sleeves together...I am imagining Trevor laying down on the fur and me measuring his arms and using the measurements.

I have a grey fur jacket I can look at for my design but I am kind of just wingin it all :)
