There are very beautiful people in this orphanage.

Thoughts -->- Boredom is not a result of a lack of external stimulus, but rather an internal inability to make the most of what one has, in my opinion ( Read more... )

- I agree with you regarding boredom being what you make of it. Sometimes all you need is a little imagination to spice things up. [Note]
- Reading tarot cards can also give details of your life in all forms. I believe people can also identify with a certain card based on birthdates. I do not really know if I believe in all of this, but it is a rather interesting idea nonetheless. [Note]
- Choice, really. The offer to come here was an invitation I couldn't refuse. I would love to be able to one day be as successful as L, but I wouldn't be upset if I was not the next heir. [Note]
- You continue to work hard. Because while the title of L is immortal, the personified counterpart is mortal. One day, the L we know will pass on, and a new L will be born. This will continue into a cycle. If we fail this time around, we keep trying and trying. [Note]
- As long as we wouldn't be stepping on anyone's neck, that is. [Note]

- All forms? I've heard of tarot cards doing such a thing before, but can one predict the future or their personality using regular playing cards as well? I'll try to see if I can find a book or website on the birthdate cards - the idea does seem very interesting, and I'm curious...
- Oh... of course. I had been wondering if there were perhaps other positions one could assume if they did not succeed L's, but even so, it's not a problem.
- Hooray! I'm sure we wouldn't be. It'll be a success regardless of whether Roger approves or not, I know it.

I've never heard prediction in playing cards, but that's something to think about. Playing cards have hearts, spades, etc. just as tarot cards has cups, swords and so forth. So who knows? Maybe if you do typical tarot reading formats (like, drawing four cards), try it with playing cards. [-1 ( ... )

That's a good idea! I think I might try it, actually, once I find out more about predicting the future with tarot cards and assign meanings to the playing cards as well. It might be fun to predict everyone's futures for a bit, don't you think? I wonder if anyone would take the predictions seriously...

Ooh, but look what I found out about birthdate playing cards. According to the chart I'm the five of hearts - fits in with your number for me! What about you?

Oh... merci beaucoup, X.

Eh? Once you're brought here, you can't leave, vraiment? Is so much secrecy really necessary? I can understand, but... so much? But L's here now? I think I might ask him some questions about this, then. After all, even if I wanted to, I could never leave this place.

[filtered to X --> unhackable.]
Haha, yes! Invitation only sounds wonderfully exclusive, like a secret society... we'll keep very quiet about it, of course. Ah, this scheming makes me feel delightfully devious. I almost hope Roger doesn't approve so we can scheme even more, haha~

Everyone of us should want to become L's successor. That way, we are always pushing each other to get better.

!

That's an excellent point, but there's something about it that doesn't sit well with me. We're pushing each other to get better, yes, but this is entirely on an individual basis. We're not trying to become better as a whole - rather, we're trying to become the best out of everyone, or so it seems.

Ouai Bien sûr! Je suis francais.

Ah, oui, je veux être le successeur. Tu veux l'être aussi, E. I can't...I can't tell her that I don't...

That is true, but by doing this to each other, we are all competing individually to work harder. Therefore the level of competition is raised. A has it the hardest because he's #1, and the rest of us are improving each other to try and reach his level.

But this competition - it's what will eventually pitch us against one another. There can only be one #1, of course, but couldn't we attempt to reach this position as a whole? Couldn't we attempt to improve ourselves and each other with this goal in mind, rather than competition?

I think we would all accomplish much more, if we were all working together rather than the opposite.

- Boredom is an illness that is easily cured.
- Genes, anything can be predicted of the such, but of course you wouldn't hand them over so easily.
- Choice and that is a little rude to ask.
- Then you are easily proven a failure and will always be a failure.

labyrinthedge November 17 2007, 01:19:42 UTC
- But it's apparently a widespread calamity for which the cure isn't readily administered or accepted. Shame, don't you think?
- I don't suppose I could if I tried, though they would certainly be very accurate. Takes the romance out of things, though.
- Why is it rude?
- Becoming L seems to be such a grand success that I can hardly see how one could call everyone else's supposedly smaller successes 'failures'. The world isn't so black and white. To me, anyway.

- Then do something about it and stop complaining.
- Romance is useless in itself, only an idiotic fantasy.
- I would rather keep my own opinions to being L's successor.
-Shame I cannot be bothered of what your view on the world is.

- I was never complaining to begin with. It's not my problem, after all.
- Fantasies are often more useful than reality, and romance is hardly idiotic. Feel free to switch the nouns around.
- This does not answer my question.
- I agree.

((ooc: and since babelfish is... fishy (8DDD *shot*), here's the exact translation: - Boredom: an unpleasant, transient affective state in which the individual feels a pervasive lack of interest in and difficulty concentrating on the current activity.))

[ooc: translation because babelfish needs to die~ "Yes, and...? One doesn't do much simply by defining things. Why do you define every word you read?"]
