CHALLENGE #13: SPOOKY GOINGS-ON

Apr 21, 2014 19:01

First of all, hello! You may remember that tallulah99 mentioned that I would be helping out in CH-CH-CHANGES post, and my first task is to launch a challenge prompt for you all - I hope you’re up for taking the prompt and running with it!

As far as I’m aware, it’s been quite a few years now since challenge prompts were last posted to this community. Therefore, I felt a little refresher might be in order - I’ll be borrowing a little from this post which first set out the general vision for challenge prompts.

1.) You post your response as a new entry to the community, adding your own information to this template above the cut:

Challenge (Insert No.):
Title:
Rating:
Author's Notes:

And then include your actual story below the cut. Tag your response with ‘Challenge Response’. We’ll say a month for people to submit replies, so the deadline for this challenge is 21st May 2014.

2.) All work submitted for challenges must be new or substantially revised older work.

3.) Challenge responses can be anything you want them to be - long or short, fluffy or dark, intimate or epic etc. etc. We’ll be trying to keep the prompts open to interpretation, as we want to see a nice mix of stories and don’t want anyone to feel restricted!

4.) Please post the entirety of the story (or, if it's a multiple-chapter story, the entirety of the first chapter) to the community - this is just to avoid the community being riddled with broken links. You are welcome to post links to the story on other sites as well, just as long as what you post to the community is complete in and of itself. All users now retain full editing rights to their posts in perpetuity, so if you decide you do want to take your story down from the Internet at some point in the future you will be free to do so.

5.) Feedback is love! We strongly encourage people to give each other feedback - if all participating authors leave each other feedback, everyone should get a good amount of comments on their work.

Of course, feel free to discuss the prompt/throw ideas around in the comments. Equally, if you have any questions/idea for future challenges just leave a comment.

Right, this is my first challenge post here so fingers crossed it goes well!

Challenge 13: You have two mandatory elements to work with: a big, creaky house (think every haunted house movie you’ve ever seen) and noises of a distinctly goblin-y nature. This, of course, creates multiple elements to play with. Who does the house belong to, and why is it afflicted by a rather serious goblin infestation? And how, if at all, do Sarah and Jareth fit in? You decide!

(I do realize that this is more of a Halloween prompt than an Easter prompt - feel free to throw the Easter Bunny in there to compensate!)

I’m really excited to be starting the challenge prompts again - I can’t wait to see what you all come up with!
