1862 lace headdress from Godey's Lady's Book

Sometimes, you have a very straightforward project that requires almost no troubleshooting to figure out.

For the current show in production, our costume designer provided me with a piece of research for a headdress from an 1862 edition of Godey's Lady's Book which had a set of instructions attached! All i really had to do was adjust the ( Read more... )

I remember having to learn that lesson at an early age. I carefully dyed an outfit yellow for a production in 7th grade..then one of the stage mom's found an admittedly much nicer outfit. I was so upset, but you're right completely right about doing it because you like doing it. And things always find a way of making it on stage, just not in the show you originally made it for!

It's a very neat little headdress, thanks for sharing it.

That site has some images of evening hairstyles and includes a reproduction of the same image and instructions i was given by our designer. So, evening attire is one option. In the context of the play, it was to be worn by the character of a doctor's wife in the home when receiving visitors.
