Thanks Kade, I really appreciate that. My mom and I have tried to get my dad to go to counseling with her, but he refuses to go. So, I think the only thing I can do is keep my distance (not hard since they now live 5 1/2 hours away), and hope for the best. Other than be there to listen, there's not much I say or can do. They're in a strange situation now since they're both 5 hours away from all their family and friends, so they're kinda stuck together. I'm not sure if this will work out for their benefit or not, but I guess we'll see. But unfortunately my mom doesn't have any close friends to talk to which is why she's relied on me so much, but she's realizing now that when it comes to problems with dad I can't be her best friend. But I think she's learning to rely on her sister more, which is good

you know, sometimes you've just got to listen to all the warning bells and whistles instead of chalking them up to being an overly anxious person. and really, it's actually kind of relieving to know that we can go live in one of the houses they're restoring (or in their house) for free while looking for a job. means the money's not going out as fast as it would if we were living in philly and job searching. we're actually really fortunate and after the initial sting of "well, philly's just not going to work out right now" the more moving down there for a bit sounds like a good thing. relaxing, even. i realized i was carrying a low level of stress for the past oh, two years or so from grad school crap and not having that looming over my head while job searching feels light and easy, respectively.
ps--when are we going to see more pictures of you and ryan engaged in married life as well as harmony?
Mariana took a picture of the happy family (baby boston included) that's now hanging on our wall, but in our mess of a house I can't find my cable to upload it to the computer, but once I find it I will certainly be posting it. Anyway, we'll hopefully be getting a new edition to the family soon (see http://search.petfinder.com/petnote/displaypet.cgi?petid=6678858) so if we get her we'll have to take another one.
So, when are you planning on moving to OH? I'm glad it's working out.
