Translating Battlestar Galactica

damned_colonial's essay on US imperialism in the new Battlestar Galactica galvanized me to write a bit on the show's very contemporary setting. This isn't a direct response to the imperialism essay, by the way. I think damned_colonial's points about excessive US-centrism are valid.

Just letting you know I'm enjoying your essays - I'm loving the new BSG, and I'm also a huge Farscape fan, and I've been wondering where all the interesting Farscape meta has been hiding. Anyway, I'm friending you.

Thanks! I realized belatedly that I got the nature of the Kobol religion wrong in this post. Apparently, those "Greek" gods aren't defunct at all. Anyway, I'm off to friend you back:)
