I saw Blood+ on adult swim but it made a so-so impression on me; I mostly thought of it as one of the many variations on the continously evolving vampire mythos featuring the queens as the "Dracula" or primary and the chevaliers as the brides as well as a bit of a male harem show. Frankly I could have done without Kai who I simply found uninteresting, annoying and a bit self-righteous

It would have been very interesting to see David and Julia as chevaliers!
I also really liked Nathan. He strikes me as someone who has been through the type of emotional convulsion the others are going through maybe 100 years before them and now is just calm and letting life take care of itself.
I'm sorry the show didn't work for you overall. Kai bored me in the beginning, but he grew on me. (David intrigued me in the beginning, then fizzled.)
If two people in a romantic relationship become chevaliers then depending on the people involved the result could be a threesome or they could be more like parents with a new kid. James and Carl seemed somewhat jealous or competitive with the others for Diva's attention.
I actually liked David throughout the series though Lewis was my favorite human. I was under the impression that the chiropteran plague was due more to Amshel's plans.
I wouldn't mind seeing a prequel OVA showing what happened to Nathan's generation which may give an idea what chiropterans are like in a more "natural" state.(not part of some behaviorial experiment)
I think the plague was, indeed, due to Amshel's plans; that's part of what I was referring to in terms of upsetting the usual course of chiropteran behavior, but I didn't express it well.
I've been meaning to watch the series as a ton of members in my WOW gamer guild are all massive fans and talk about it a lot. The female gamers love the female characters. They also said to skip the first few eps as they were boring and turn people off the series :)
I'm glad it's popular somewhere! There were moments I felt the female characters kind of lost their momentum, but still, there are good, central female characters:)
