How My Kitty Helps Me Live a Better Life

When I get home after several hours away, my lonely little kitty likes to assail me and sit on any available part of my anatomy, purring loudly. This makes it tricky to sit down at my computer and immediately start checking email, doing DW/LJ, updating my online class, etc.: it's hard to type with Kitty strategically placed between me and Keyboard ( Read more... )

Awwww. I just spent a couple of hours with Sebastian and a book. You can't type round your little one? I used to with Tessa and can with Sebastian if he settles on my lap.

I can type around her, but she likes to climb on the keyboard if I'm close to it, so I have to move my chair back lean my arms way over to type.

Our 2 cats are both obsessed with sitting on me in front of the computer - nothing like 2 cats both on the computer table trying to get comfortable!

We wound up setting up a chair next to the computer desk, which is now the cat chair for when they want to help me out with my computer needs :)

We have a rule in our home that if one has a cat lying on them, they do not have to move if something is needed doing. "Sorry, I have the cat excuse!"

But there is nothing as wonderful as a happy cat purring away while draped on our bodies :)

I like your rule. My desk is a mess. There's no room for kitties without papers flying!

Hooraaaay. My cat does the same thing. If my hands are typing, he needs to get in the way.

Awww! What is it about cats and keyboards? Or really anything - if you're reading a newspaper or book or typing, they just flop down on top of it so you'll pay attention to them instead. I kind of adore that simplistic mentality. It's like they tell us, "calm the fuck down and pet me!" &hearts

Lol, our little Blokhin was the same, he wouldn't stop till he got on my lap, never mind that Saddam was already occupying it. Trust me, typing and balancing a cat on each of your thighs is whole another level.
And the nights where even better: for Blokhin, the only appropriate place to sleep was the angle of my shoulder and neck, where he would nestle happily and start sucking his thumb. Very loudly and right into my ear. All freaking night!!

Now you can see where our cat-naming tradition comes from: they *are* sweet dictators! XP
