We saw X-Men: The Last Stand last weekend. It was alright. I like Kelsey Grammer’s urbane and witty Beast. I was pleasantly surprised to see the lovely Olivia Williams, although her near-cameo sized role as Moira MacTaggert was too small. The now de-Stamos’d Rebecca Romijn looks incredible in one scene (those who saw the movie will know which one I ( Read more... )

American sports are, for better or worse, built upon transparency, or the appearance of transparency, and on the grind-it-out work ethic.

Which is why we cheat behind the scenes (i.e., steroids). Although I actually like his reasoning in general--we do like up-front stuff, and we do like stuff we basically invented ourselves. And I really do like this about America, although I'm willing to poke fun, too.

Can I just say that as much as I like Ian McKellan (and believe, my own self, in gay rights) that it seems like he's getting to be a bit of a Johnny-one-note on the subject? : "X-Men movie? You know what would make that even better? Some gay sex." "Garden party? You know what makes garden parties especially festive? Gay sex." "Brain surgery? You know what really livens up a head operation...?"

Psylocke is the one in that picture with the purple hair! I fail to see how my lovely Warren Worthington III is going to fall for her if she refuses to wash said purple hair.

I kept expecting Arclight to break out a lovely song and dance number while snapping her fingers and proclaiming "When you're a jet, you're a jet all the wayyyyyy! From your first cigarette to your last dyin' daaaayyyyyyy!"

Young Magneto and Young Professor X were SOOOO doin' it.

Dude, Rebecca Romjin is fucking hot now. I never got the appeal before, but that picture... it gave me a woody. And I'm a girl!

I think it'd be hard for WWIII to fall in love with anyone while being a walking/flying metaphor. He's in love with justice!

Bwah! West Side Mutant Story.

I concur.

I tell you, I sure didn't sit through two episodes of Pepper Dennis for the thigh-slapping humor.

Psylocke is the purple hair girl as Zooby pointed out, she's played by Meiling Melançon. The Psylocke thing is weird. First of all, there's the fact that she's in Magneto's Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. Then, while the actress says that her characters has Psylocke's powers (but they were never show onscreen, her role is very small), one of the scriptwriter claims that Melançon's character wasn't named Psylocke in the original script and doesn't know how Psylocke got in there.

I like lone wolf macho men as much as the next person and Wolverine didn't bother me at all in the last two movies, but I think in this one Wolverine dials it up to 11.

I wish I could find a screencap of that scene in X3, because, swoons.

“Oh, hello. I didn’t see you there. I’m just taking a break from fighting to smoke a cigar in a cinematically insouciant manner. Hi, I’m Wolverine. That smell? Oh, it’s just the smell of my perennial leather jacket, sweat-soaked wifebeater, greasy hair (head and facial), all capped with the top note of virility to form Eau de Wolverine. Intoxicating isn’t it? You look quite faint. I have that effect on people. You see, I’m a fighter and a lover. I’m hirsute and hard on the outside, but with the right woman, I’m soft and teary on the inside. I’m an animal (Ladies, take note. My animalistic quality also extends to other aspects of my life if you know what I mean, and I think you do.). I'm a lone wolf (geddit?). I’m a rebel. I march to the beat of my own drum. I rarely listen to anyone. In short, I’m fucking annoying. Watch for me in my own spinoff movie.”

What a beautiful paragraph. This is sort of thing that would be on FT if it were still good.

Awww, thank you! I couldn't have done it without Wolverine's rabid (ahaha) scenery chewing.

I think another problem I have with Wolverine is that since he's pretty much the focus of the films, I didn't get too see as much of the other characters as I'd like.

I hope they continue with the franchise. You saw the scene after the credits right? I'm so curious about what he'll look like. I mean, why wouldn't the producers want to keep on milking this cash cow? Unless it's to milk the spin-off cows like the one named Wolverine. *sniffs* Although I wouldn't mind a Magneto prequel, especially if it'll tell us more about Eric and Charles.
