The panda was also a part of a 2005 collection and it sold very well all over the world. His image was painted on the bags though this seems like more of an accessories/novelty collection. It's cute for sure but I don't know that I would spend my money on a plush instead of just going for an actual LV bag or small accessory with that image painted on it a la 2005, you know?

Murakami Takashi is a brilliant artist.
His theory on pop art and commentary on popular culture is really interesting.
In Japan, the LV monogram bag is so common that just as common as a school uniform. It lost any special meaning. I think that Murakami's deliberate choice to design for LV is genius.

I think collaborations with artist and designers are great. Like Jeff Koons with Stella McCartney, etc.

such collaborations are oustanding and considering Murakami I just love his bags for LV, but I don't realize the influence of panda-toy on Louis Vuitton brand's image..
the thing is that such things are great in Japan which is for me the most progressive country trying to experiment with the style all the time :)

I bought a bag with what I think is the same character a couple of years ago--it's really cute, though I don't think I'd want to buy a plushie just because of it is. The bag kicks some serious ass, though ^^

I think it depends on your style. I've got an indie/bohemian+Audrey Hepburn thing going on and the bag fit quite nicely with the rest of my clothes. Plus, I've always been a sucker for eclectic pieces.

I own the small purse from the 2005 collection (I believe). I adore it and get tons of compliments on it whenever I use it. The panda is cute but I have to agree that I'm not sure if I would associate that with LV or not. It's still really cute though! :)
