My floor project in my bedroom is insane. It's an enormous amount of work and I'm going to love it and it will be worth it. But it's insane. Last night I realized that I have developed a fear of freehand painting. If I had started out with the courage to do it by hand rather than needing a stencil the whole project could have been much quicker. ( Read more... )

Damn, that's daunting! Be sure to photo document the entire process!

Problem is, I don't have a digital camera. My mom said she'd get me one for xmas, but I have been so focused on my bedroom I haven't had time to shop around and choose a camera to get :( Once I get one I'm sure I will be a photo-posting maniac :)

You should get those art nouveau clip art books and project the design you want on the walls. It would be much quicker for your lil hands :)

That's a good idea. And I've seen it done and thought I'd end up doing it eventually on a wall. But it's a floor. Hmm... I'm sure I could rig something up. The gears are turning...

Basically we get together from 6:30 or 7 til 9 or 9:30. Bring your own project, I have a sewing machine and some stuff, but you can do whatever you want. Right now my project is cutting a stencil for my floor. Last week one woman made felted beads and another woman knitted. I've even just spent an evening cutting rags out of old t-shirts. So it doesn't have to be particularly creative or ambitious :) I have card tables if you need surface area, etc. It's a free for all really. As far as age, I guess it's ranged from early 20's to mid 40's so far (I'm 32). Yay for age diversity!
