#1: Stating the Obvious

Ron crumpled up the note and shoved it in his pocket as Professor McGonagall made her way down the aisle. Harry glanced down at the pictures of Animagi in his textbook. He didn't have to look up to know that McGonagall had stopped right in front of Ron.

"Mr. Weasley," she stated stiffly. Harry could imagine her lowering her spectacles to glare at his friend. "It seems like you are rather...occupied."

"Professor, I can explain--" started Ron.

"Is there a reason why you are playing with this horrendous glowing thing in my class instead of paying attention?"

Before Ron could answer, what was supposed to be a fortune cookie glowed a neon green and then suddenly exploded. Harry couldn't help but snort as he looked at his friend, who was covered in green slime. Ron opened his mouth like a gaping fish, absolutely horrified. McGonagall took this opportunity to pick up the soggy and disgusting slip of paper that held his fortune.

"Times have changed," McGonagall read out loud to the class. "Don't become a dirt-eating piece of slime if you know what is good for you." She grinned slightly and patted Ron reassuringly on the shoulder. "Well, I have to agree. That is a good piece advice. My compliments to Mr. Weasley, if you will."

Ron's face turned bright red as McGonagall walked away and Harry and the rest of the class snickered.
