[ Severus had been up for some time before he heard noise coming from the kitchen. He never could sleep well during this time of year, but most especially around this day. He had never forgotten, the memories of what he saw as fresh in his mind as if it had happened just yesterday. In a way it had helped that the memories never faded. It pushed him forward so he could do what needed to be done until the end.

Eventually, as the smell of food got stronger, he left his room, slowly making his way downstairs, fingers trailing along the wall to ground himself. What he remembered and what he now saw clashed badly. Lily dead in his mind, cradled in his arms. And Lily standing there fixing breakfast, watched by the kitten. Alive and whole. ]

[ She didn't have to turn around to know he was there behind her. ] Good morning, Severus. [ Perhaps if she didn't mention the fact that it was Halloween or the fact that she hadn't heard or seen Harry in weeks things would be alright. ]

Good morning. [ His voice revealed nothing, a true show of his years of self training. He lingered there in the doorway. Obviously this wasn't how the day usually went for him every year. ]

Wasn't sure what you were in the mood for, so I hope this will be alright. [ She set a plate on the table. It was filled with a typical English breakfast; scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, mushrooms, baked beans, hash browns, and half a tomato. ]

There will be tea, just waiting on the kettle.
