Rebecca is used to people suddenly being gone. She's long since taken solace in the fact that, when people disappear from Promenade, it's usually for the better -- it means they've gone home, where they belong. It's harder back home, to be sitting there when Shaun sends out the news that another team isn't coming home, to know people on that team and to have to keep working because the world isn't going to save itself. Here, when people die, they come back -- a bit beaten up, but they heal. They aren't gone forever ( ... )

He's never let people close, and when he does, he tends to cling onto them like a lifeline. Letting people in now-a-days is difficult, and when they suddenly disappear, it hits him twice as hard. At first when he arrived in the city he found it a nice reprieve from his life, and maybe the chance to be happy... but now he's developed quite a hatred for it. A sort of bitterness towards it all, but he doesn't take it out on his friends.

Charles still has no idea how to take care of a piglet, but, he figures it can't be too difficult from taking care of an Eevee.

The squealing catches his attention and he looks over at the piglet racing towards him. Oh. He pushes himself up to sit a bit higher, bracing himself for the small pink animal to hurl itself at him.

It's November now, and Rebecca has been in the city since January. She was one of the first, and with each passing day, there are fewer familiar faces and more new ones. It hurts, but she's used to dealing with it back home, and she's used to dealing with it here. All she can do is use the time she has and help those left behind.

Luckily for Charles, the piglet isn't too large, and it skids to a stop to snort and snuffle at the man. It has to know what he smells like, after all, and then it will crawl onto his lap and make itself comfortable.

"Cute, huh?" Rebecca flops down next to the two of them, twisting the volume control on her MP3 player so that she can hear his response over her music.

Is it a pig or a cat, he has to wonder. He eyes it and raises an eyebrow before looking up at Rebecca with a bit of a smile.

"I've never stopped to see if they're cute." He admits, glancing at the pig again. He is just more confused by what to do with it than anything else. "Have you found a home for most of them?"
